CBIC Technical Standards Bulletin: July and August 2026

CBIC Technical Standards Bulletin for July and August 2026: standards in National Consultation, published and canceled by ABNT for civil construction.

CBIC Technical Standards Bulletin: July and August 2026

THE Technical Standards Bulletin of July and August 2026 is now available, prepared by CBIC with a summary of the ABNT standards in National Consultation, published and canceled in the period. The document guides engineers, architects and designers on changes that impact projects, works and the digitalization of the sector — including construction information modeling (BIM). Published monthly, the bulletin is a practical reference for those who need to follow normalization without wasting time. Check out what changes.

Technical Standards Bulletin: what is in National Consultation

Five standard projects are open for contributions from society until September 2026. The most relevant for those working with BIM is the ABNT NBR ISO 19650-6 project, which defines the management of health and safety information in buildings and civil engineering works, with consultation until 05/08/2026.

  • ABNT NBR ISO 19650-6 — BIM: health and safety information management (until 05/08)
  • ABNT PR 1027 — legal security system: general guidelines (until 18/08)
  • ABNT NBR ISO 46001 — water efficiency management systems (until 20/08)
  • Revision of ABNT NBR 5589 — low carbon steel wire (until 01/09)
  • ABNT NBR ISO 21512 — added value management in projects (until 02/09)

Participating in the National Consultation is an opportunity for professionals and companies to influence the final text of the standards before publication. The contribution is made directly on the ABNT website, and the CBIC bulletin facilitates access to the complete content of each project.

Standards published and canceled in July

The bulletin also records three standards published in July. ABNT NBR 17073-2:2024 Amendment 1:2026 updates flooring and roofing systems with modular lightweight panels; ABNT NBR 15316-2:2024 Errata 1:2026 adjusts the requirements for medium density fiber panels; and ABNT NBR 17305-1:2026 establishes the design and execution of modular lightweight walls without structural function.

  • ABNT NBR 17073-2:2024 Amendment 1:2026 — floors and coverings with lightweight modular panel
  • ABNT NBR 15316-2:2024 Errata 1:2026 — medium density fiber panels
  • ABNT NBR 17305-1:2026 — lightweight modular walls without structural function

On the list of canceled ones, ABNT NBR ISO/IEC 25020:2009, on measuring the quality of software products, ceased to be in force on 07/06/2026 — a sign that technical standardization is under constant review.

Why follow technical standards in BIM

Standards such as ISO 19650 are the basis for collaboration in BIM projects. They define how to organize, digitize and share information about buildings and works, reducing rework and conflicts between disciplines. Part 6, under consultation, expands this control to health and safety information — a topic that is gaining more and more importance on construction sites and projects. The ISO 19650 family already has parts published and adopted in Brazil, and each new part consolidates the exchange of data between architecture, engineering and construction.

The bulletin has an interface with the project "Conformity in the Construction Sector", by the CBIC Materials, Technology, Quality and Productivity Commission (COMAT), in partnership with SENAI. The idea is to bring the sector closer to regulatory requirements and raise the quality of Brazilian enterprises. Companies that incorporate standards into their workflow reduce technical risks, avoid rework and gain competitiveness in tenders and certifications.

How to follow technical standards

For those who design using BIM, keeping up to date with ABNT standards is as important as mastering the software.
