Overview
Siemens NX (formerly Unigraphics NX) is a premier integrated CAD/CAM/CAE platform for advanced product design, engineering simulation, and manufacturing. Developed by Siemens Digital Industries Software, NX is used extensively in aerospace (Boeing, Airbus), automotive (BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Tesla), industrial machinery, medical devices, and high-tech electronics. It is one of the most comprehensive PLM-integrated platforms available, combining design, simulation, and manufacturing in a single environment with full Teamcenter PLM integration.
NX's defining technology is Synchronous Technology — a hybrid modeling approach that combines the speed of direct modeling with the control of parametric feature-based modeling. Convergent Modeling allows direct editing of 3D scan data and mesh geometry without conversion. The CAM module is one of the most powerful in the industry, supporting 3-to-5-axis milling, turning, mill-turn, and additive manufacturing. NX Nastran provides integrated FEA simulation for structural, thermal, and dynamic analysis.
Siemens NX 2026 (version 2606 series) enhances CAM with background toolpath generation, automated fixture management, and improved multitasking support. Design improvements include generative design, topology optimization, and advanced freeform surface modeling.
